ORION Engineers & Constructors, a multi-discipline engineering and construction management firm with office locations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, is currently seeking an E&I Field Coordinator/Designer for our Client in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

This role will be responsible for supporting their electrical and instrumentation projects at the Baton Rouge site.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and communicate project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project.
  • Participate in development and planning meetings for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate work activities with other project team members and the Project Manager.
  • Determine construction quantities and provide construction cost estimates.
  • Work with construction contractors, Capital Engineer, and Capital Project Manager to handle field issues that may arise during project implementation with proper procedures and documentation, emphasis on DCS/SCADA.
  • Responsible for maintaining set of accurate As-Built and construction in progress documentation to ensure proper project closures.
  • Field verification, redlining, and updating of existing drawings in AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Updating of existing drawings utilizing redlines by others in AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Serve as liaison between Operations, Maintenance, HS&E, Automation, outside contractors and the Capital Project Manager.
  • Coordinate design with plant and Capital Engineering SME’s from estimate through all design stages.
  • Provide on-site assistance to Commissioning/Start-Up team during startup of projects, including troubleshooting assistance in the plant.
  • Understands and follows company, industry, and government codes, practices, regulations, and standards and acquire and maintain all vital licenses and certificates pertinent to the role.
  • Follow and complete internal and external training sessions as assigned by the supervisor and assist in supporting other crew members in I&E skills and tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Design preparation of electrical, instrumentation and controls for a variety of clients.
  • Assist in developing +/- 30% and +/-10% scopes for Process Safety related projects including PHA action items and LOPA Gap closures.
  • Create drawing packages with redlines to hand over to the estimating group.

Essential Functions:

  • Infrastructure projects such as site grading, roads, pipelines, water, and sewage systems, as well as project permitting.
  • Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.
  • Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures such as transportation or hydraulics.

  • Management/Oversight and Execution of all Instrumentation deliverables on assigned project(s).
  • Support P&ID development; maintains the P&ID’s through each project phase; recognizes/ understands required process control strategies and ensures same are reflected accordingly.

ORION Engineers & Constructors, a multi-discipline engineering and construction management firm with office locations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, is currently seeking a PROCESS ENGINEER to become a valuable part of our successful Process Technology Team. 

Essential Functions:

  • Communicate resource plan and needs for assigned projects to the Discipline Manager and seek resources with the assistance of the manager.
  • Lead engineers on projects / proposals assigned including attendance at all required project meetings, project reporting, and oversight / direction of support staff assigned on the project.
  • Provide technical oversight, assign tasks to junior or mid-level engineers, and monitor progress for projects as needed.
  • Make client site visits as required to support project execution and/or proposal activity.
  • Respond to technical questions.

Essential Functions: 

  • Perform land (topographic, planimetric, boundary, flood certificate, etc.) surveying, construction layout/stakeout, and recording of geophysical survey results with GPS and total stations.
  • Works under the general direction of the Survey Party Chief.
  • Operates primarily in industrial environments.
  • Operates total station, digital and automatic level, Topcon data collector, TDS software.
  • Collect data for field level notes which is reported to the Survey Party Chief.
  • Assist in loading and unloading survey equipment from the company vehicle.

 Essential Functions: 

  • Operate GPR and RF equipment.
  • Generate field sketches.

  • Oversees the daily functions of the survey crew.
  • Effectively manage the time and schedules of the survey crew
  • Responsible for the set up and completion of the survey crew on job sites under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor.
  • Operate total stations, levels, GPS units, and other survey equipment.
  • Process raw survey data and review in Civil3D.
  • Generate simple survey drawings in Civil3D.
  • Maintain complete and accurate field records.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering resources and survey team lead.

Essential Functions: 

  • Works under the direction of the project lead engineer and/or the design lead
  • Able to work and function autonomously with general supervision and lead small projects relative to the design work
  • Responsible for the completeness / correctness of assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Follow Orion project procedures and drawing / document procedures
  • Proper use / application of CAD borders, both Orion standard borders and client standards
  • Proper CADD drafting standard usage, both Orion standards and client standards
  • Assists in the design, development, and implementation of simple / basic design items in their assigned department / discipline
  • May be responsible to check drafting work performed by others within their assigned department / discipline
