Years of construction site experience allow our mechanical engineers to consider constructability issues as the project develops, while their operations experience helps them to consider designs from the client’s perspective. We also supply our engineers with all the tools necessary to expedite quality and cost effective designs. From piping systems to glass-lined reactors, Orion’s mechanical engineers are prepared to fulfill our clients’ needs.

Orion Engineering has capabilities for both static and dynamic simulations of new and existing piping systems using Caesar II software.  Pipe stress simulations are used to confirm acceptable pipe stress per ASME B31.1 (Power Piping), B31.3 (Process Piping) and ASME B31.4 (Pipeline Transportation).  Static analyses of piping systems are utilized to determine support requirements, identify flexibility requirements to maintain acceptable loads on connected equipment and predict thermal piping movements at elevated temperatures.   Dynamic simulations are performed to analyze piping vibration and fatigue of existing piping, eliminate slug flow (water hammer), design pressure relief valve piping, and seismic events.  Pipe stress analyses are used to provide Orion Engineering’s clients with properly designed piping systems that will operate trouble free over the life of the piping.
